The First HKUST International Ecotronics Symposium – Electronics for Energy and the Environment (E3S)

The Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at HKUST has organized the First International Ecotronics Symposium - Electronics for Energy and the Environment (E3S) on November 12th, 2011 on University’s campus in Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong. This one-day international symposium was part of the HKUST 20th Anniversary Celebration festivity and came on the heel of the announcement of HKUST as the No. 1 Asian University by QS World University Rankings ®.

Over the last decade, a tremendous amount of research effort has been devoted to a broad range of applications and technologies in generating energy and saving the environment. The end application covers a wide range of disciplines including solar cells, wind turbine engine, solid-state lighting, green buildings, smart grid and environmental pollution sensors among many others. The E3S has brought together the industry’s visionaries to share the emerging trends in energy applications and the implication on the R&D of the necessary underpinning technologies.

Over 60 researchers and practicing professionals in the field of energy or the environment participated in this stimulating and comprehensive workshop.
