香港科技大學（廣州）校園建築全面封頂
9月26日，經過300多個日夜的艱苦奮鬥，香港科技大學（廣州）項目一期工程核心建築和配套建築主體結構迎來全面封頂。這標誌著香港科技大學（廣州）這一粵港合作典範、世界一流高等學府，距離明年9月正式開學的目標又前進了一大步。
港科大（廣州）校園由國際知名的建築設計事務所KPF牽頭設計，以“智慧綠色校園”為靈感，延續香港科技大學的整體風格，並與四周的自然環境和諧相融。港科大（廣州）門戶庭院的設計與位於香港清水灣的香港科技大學校園異曲同工，建築物沿半圓形設置，圍繞著中央的紅色日晷雕塑。
通過街道和功能的佈局，校園得以實現與周圍社區環境的緊密聯結。校園一期根據功能分為中區、東區、西區、北區、東南區、東北區六大區域，其中教科研樓、行政大樓位於中區，東區為各運動場館所在區域，學生宿舍及高街生活區位于東南區，北區為教職工宿舍。
圖書館橫跨中央運河，聯繫校園東西區。在透明的設計下，人們可以看到兩側的實驗室，將科學生動地呈現在眼前。在流通空間和實驗室之間，也設置了容納大型設備和大型裝置的通高空間。屋頂被綠色覆蓋，天氣晴朗時可為學生提供優質的室外活動場所。實驗室大樓的屋頂覆蓋有光伏板，將太陽能的可再生資源轉化為校園所用。
據瞭解，香港科技大學（廣州）毗鄰廣深港高鐵慶盛站，周邊配套商業廣場、辦公樓及公共交通樞紐為一體的新鴻基慶盛樞紐站場綜合體，規劃有國鐵、城際、地鐵等軌道交通6條，高快速路3條，乘坐高鐵去往深圳21分鐘，香港35分鐘，乘5站地鐵即可到廣州大學城。
港科大（廣州）一期工程總建築面積約63.6萬平方米，預計將於2022年3月完工，5月移交校方，9月達到開學標準。
