李波教授獲2023年《IEEE雲計算學報》最佳論文獎
香港科技大學計算機科學及工程學系講座教授李波，憑藉題為「HFedMS: Heterogeneous Federated Learning with Memorable Data Semantics in Industrial Metaverse」的合著論文，奪得2023年《IEEE雲計算學報》最佳論文獎，論文與中國電子科技大學及新加坡南洋理工大學的研究員共同撰寫。
這項突破性的研究提出了一個新型系統，針對工業元宇宙中聯邦學習的關鍵挑戰，包括與非獨立同分布（non-i.i.d.）數據、來自串流數據的學習退化以及有限通信帶寬相關的問題。通過利用動態分組、訓練模式轉換、語義壓縮和層級同步等技術，HFedMS系統增強了聯邦學習在工業環境中的適應性和效率。實驗顯示，該系統不僅提高了分類準確性，還顯著減少了運行時間和數據傳輸要求。這與李波教授近期進行的數個獲研究資助局撥款的項目一致，這些項目均致力於開發聯邦學習的新技術及解決聯邦學習在現實世界中的應用問題。這項工作促進了機器學習技術的進步，同時展示了其在工業應用中的創新。
