三大洲著名大学签订三边合作协议
香港科技大学（科大）今日（星期四）与德国卡尔斯鲁大学（Universität Karlsruhe）和美国卡内基大学(Carnegie Mellon University)签订协议，加强学术合作和交流。卡尔斯鲁大学为德国顶尖的研究型大学，而卡内基大学为美国重鲇大学，以计算机科学着称。这次三所来自三大洲的世界一流大学签订三边合作协议，意义重大。
科大校长朱经武教授、卡尔斯鲁大学校长Prof Horst Hippler 和卡内基大学校长Prof Jared L Cohon 今日共同签订协议，展开友好合作新一页。
朱经武教授致词时表示，对于今次与来自欧美两大洲的顶尖大学结盟，感到双重的光荣和喜悦。
朱教授在会上亦就各大学未来的合作模式分享了他的见解。他说：「全球大学未来的合作模式将会迈向一个新阶段—各大学伙伴一方面享有管理自主，同时又受惠于彼此文化上的互融，彼此分享创见。」
根据协议，这三所大学将协力发展研究和教学计划，就计算器科技和通讯技术加强合作；并会推动学生和教员间的学术交流活动，增广他们跨越国界和文化上的见闻。
德国卡尔斯鲁大学概述
卡尔斯鲁大学现被称为德国三所重鲇大学之一，根据德国一份有关职业和经济刊物“karriere ”的调查结果，卡尔斯鲁大以计算机科学、机械工程和商业工程着称。
美国卡内基大学概述
卡内基大学建校于一九零零年，连续被US News & World Report 选为美国排名最高的大学之一，其中以文科和科技信息科目最为著名，并以跨学科和创新的教学方法着称。
