QS Ranks HKUST Hong Kong's Best Again in Engineering & Technology

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has been ranked No. 1 again in Hong Kong in Engineering and Technology by the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2011 - Engineering and Technology. The University is consistently ranked within the top 30 in the world in engineering.

Ranked 22nd globally in engineering and technology, HKUST School of Engineering has made a jump of 4 places from 26th last year and has achieved its highest ever position in this ranking. The top three universities remain to be MIT, Stanford and UC Berkeley respectively; HKUST is at 22nd, Princeton at 23rd and Cornell at 25th.

HKUST is one of the only two universities from Hong Kong ranked among the top 50 in the world in the engineering field.

HKUST Dean of Engineering, Prof Khaled Ben Letaief, said, “Thanks to the outstanding work of our faculty and students, we continue to be highly respected among our peers. I am also very pleased to see that we continue to be counted among the key players in the world. We shall persist on further developing HKUST as a leading global education and research institution in Engineering and Technology.”


Ranking indicators include academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, faculty student ratio, proportion of international students and proportion of international faculty.
