劳敏慈教授获选香港工程科学院院士
土木及环境工程学系讲座教授劳敏慈获选为2023年度香港工程科学院院士。本届共有13位人士获选，名单于2023年12月12日举行的第30届香港工程科学院年度大会上公布，颁授仪式已于2024年1月29日顺利举行。
劳敏慈教授是国际知名学者，她研发利用铁基纳米材料和光催化材料去除水中和地下环境中的重金属、有机物和新兴污染物（如抗生素），并探索利用这些材料去除污染物的基础原理，是同类研究的先驱。劳教授的研究具有开创性、创新性、可持续性，且研究成果的应用符合经济效益。此外，她亦针对建筑材料、商业和住宅建筑以及污水处理过程进行生命周期评估、碳足迹、净零排放和科学基础减碳目标倡议的研究。
劳教授曾获多项国际荣誉和奖项，包括欧洲科学与人文学院院士、香港工程师学会院士、美国土木工程师学会院士。自2020年史丹福大学公布全球最顶尖2%科学家以来，劳教授每年均位列其中。
过去三年，工学院共有六名教授获选为香港工程科学院院士，包括2022年当选的刘坚能教授和穆乐思教授、2021年当选的郭毅可教授，以及2020年当选的李德富教授、郑光廷教授和张黔教授。
