Alumni Kaleidoscope: Desmond Chiu - BSc(BIOL)
Desmond has a strong affection for animals and has been a marine mammal trainer with Ocean Park for many years. There, he is responsible for taking care of various mammals including dolphins and sea lions. Desmond believes passion is the prerequisite for being a marine mammal trainer: "You often encounter numerous challenges as different mammals have their own physical conditions and ways of living. You have to be patient with them, work hard and try your best to be accustomed to their specific needs. As time goes by, they all become my dear friends."
His three years of biology studies at HKUST not only imbued him with the necessary professional knowledge for his work, but also trained him to be dedicated and diligent. "I am grateful to be part of the HKUST community. What I learnt and experienced are crucial to both my career and personal growth," says Desmond.
