HKUST Engineering Joint Laboratories with Chinese Academy of Sciences
According to the recently announced funding results in the Research Grants Council’s (RGC) Co-funding Mechanism on Joint Laboratories with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), two joint labs led by School of Engineering (SENG) faculty members were awarded funding.
The two labs are Microelectronics Joint Laboratory, led by Chair Professor Kevin CHEN of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and Joint Laboratory for Hydrogen Energy, led by Prof. SHAO Minhua, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
The Microelectronics Joint Laboratory, which was reaccredited in this scheme, was awarded HK$1.875 million by RGC for a period of five years. The lab was established between HKUST and Institute of Microelectronics, CAS.
The Joint Laboratory for Hydrogen Energy, which is a newly accredited joint lab, was awarded HK$1.25 million by RGC for a period of five years. The lab was established between HKUST and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, CAS.
A total of 14 joint labs across local universities were awarded funding this round, including four from HKUST. In addition to the two from SENG, there are also two led by the School of Science.
