Prof. Huamin QU Won the IEEE VGTC Visualization Technical Achievement Award 2023

Congratulations to Prof. Huamin QU, Dean of Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) and Chair Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, for being honoured with the IEEE VGTC Visualization Technical Achievement Award 2023 for his broad and influential contributions to all areas of visualization, i.e. for urban informatics and human-AI. This award is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious honours in the field of visualization, and Prof. QU stands out as one of only two Asian recipients since the establishment of the award.

Prof. QU is a renowned figure in the interdisciplinary field of computer science and engineering. His groundbreaking work in developing innovative visualization analysis systems and their applications in various domains, including urban informatics, online education, intelligent manufacturing, and financial technology, has garnered widespread recognition in both academia and industry.

With over 200 top-tier journal papers and publications to his credit, Prof. QU has established collaborations with more than 500 researchers worldwide. Beyond his research endeavors, He has also actively served the academia by chairing conferences such as IEEE VIS and IEEE PacificVis. He has also mentored and supervised over 40 doctoral students, many of whom have become professors in esteemed universities in China, USA and Singapore etc.

During the award ceremony, Prof. QU reflected on his three-decade-long journey in the field of visualization, highlighting pivotal moments and the academic lineage he has fostered. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to fellow researchers, his family, and friends for their support and contributions to the advancement of visualization technology.
