Prof Guanghao Chen Elected as Distinguished Fellow of International Water Association
Prof Guanghao Chen, Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the International Water Association (IWA). There are currently only 30 Distinguished Fellows out of 10,000 members in IWA and only four people around the world are elected in 2015. He is the first one from Hong Kong to receive this prestigious honor.
The IWA Distinguished Fellow designation is limited in number (currently around 20% of Fellows), and is for Fellows or other professionals who have been recognized for their uniquely significant long-term contributions to advancing water science and management. Prof Chen has been elected an IWA Fellow since 2011 when he was also the first Hong Kong scholar to receive this honor. Election to fellowship represents a high honor that is bestowed upon an individual by the Association.
