The paper "Surface-Induced Parallel Alignment of Liquid Crystals by Linearly Polymerized Photopolymers" by Prof V Chigrinov of the ECE Department, and co-authored with M Schadt, K Schmitt and V Kozinkov, is one of the ten most heavily-cited and influential papers published in the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics (JJAP) since the first volume (1962). The papers have been selected from various fields of applied physics by the JJAP Editorial Board.
