Mr and Mrs Poon Kei Chak Met with Awardees of “Mr & Mrs Poon Kuen Seng Memorial Scholarships”
On September 21, 2018, Mr and Mrs POON Kei Chak visited campus to meet the awardees of “Mr & Mrs Poon Kuen Seng Memorial Scholarships”. The get-together was joined by President Prof. Wei SHYY; Prof CHENG Siu Wing, Associate Dean of Engineering (Undergraduate Studies); Prof. Dit-Yan YEUNG, Acting Head, Dept of Computer Science & Engineering; Prof. CHEUNG Shing Chi, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Dr Tony LAM, Head, Scholarships & Financial Aid Office.
In 2017, HKUST received a HK$5 million donation from Mr POON Kei Chak for the establishment of “Mr & Mrs Poon Kuen Seng Memorial Scholarships” - an endowed scholarship named after his late parents. Each year outstanding students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) will be selected to receive the scholarship. Two students were selected in 2018 and they are WANG Yue Fei and CHIU Ka Ho. They expressed gratitude to the donor and shared with them their life at HKUST. Mr and Mrs Poon encouraged them to strive for the best and be proactive in diversifying their learning opportunities so as to widen their horizons.
