IPO Zone Re-opening and Welcome Back Reception

The IPO Zone Re-opening and Welcome Back Reception was concluded successfully on 3 Feb, the first day of Spring Term 2022/23.

Prof. Huamin QU, Director of IPO hosted the e-opening and roasted pig cutting ceremony together with Prof. Alexis LAU, Head of the Division of Environment and Sustainability (ENVR) and Prof. Naubahar SHARIF, Acting Head of the Division of Public Policy (PPOL) to unveil the new look of IPO Zone after the major renovation. Prof. Huamin QU  welcomed faculty members and students back to campus and hoped everyone enjoyed the renovated area especially the first curved LED wall in HKUST..

Coincidentally, it was also Lunar New Year, so IPO Student Ambassadors dressed up as ‘Chinese God of Wealth’ and ‘lions’ to greet the participants and perform a lion dance which further spiced up the atmosphere. Red packets and Fai Chun were then distributed to share the Lunar New Year blessings.

After the opening ceremony, festive refreshment and freshly made popcorn were provided for participating faculty members and students to stay behind and mingle with each other. A photo booth was also set on site to let all IPO members capture the precious moments.
