HKUST-Sino One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition 2019 is launched
Organized by HKUST Entrepreneurship Center, the “HKUST-Sino One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition 2019” (“Competition”), as an annual flagship event in HKUST, is kick-started on Feb 18, 2019 with an information session followed by a mixer on Feb 22, 2019 to get interested participants from HKUST and external organizations together to join the Competition.
The Competition attracted 70+ people to attend the information session. Prof. Gary CHAN, Director of HKUST Entrepreneurship Center welcomed the participants and introduced the background of the Competition, “HKUST One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition has been an annual flagship event since 2011. The Competition has expanded to 7 cities including Shenzhen, Nansha, Foshan, Zhongshan, Macau and Beijing.” He encouraged participants to take part in this opportunity and showcase their entrepreneurial talents as well as experience the process of developing their own business plan, working in teams and getting to know other startups.

Participants also learnt some tips in the Information Session. They got a lot of useful advice on the team forming, submission rules and judging process. Participants were more clear about the Competition after the Information Session.

In addition to the information session, a mixer was held to provide a chance for participants to get to know each other and form teams with like-minded people. In that evening, Michelle, whose team won the GF Securities Gold Award and Nan Fung Smart City in last year’s completion, was invited to the mixer. She shared her experience as an awardee of the Competition and a young entrepreneur to more than 40 participants. Moreover, different theme stations were set up for attendees to discuss on their interested topics. They also actively shared their thoughts in the open mic session and to recruit team members.
