HKUST to Organize Garage Sale for Charity and Sustainability
A charity garage sale with over 160 tables of new and second-hand goods will be held in the car park at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology this Saturday, 6 June 2009, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
The event is run voluntarily on a non-profit making basis, with all the surplus funds going to charity, an HKUST spokesman said.
Apart from the charity element, the garage sale also supports environmental sustainability and the 3-R's (Recycle, Reuse and Reduce).
The stall-holders are not limited to HKUST staff, students and alumni, but also include interested members of the public coming as far as from Tung Chung and the South District of Hong Kong Island.
In addition to selling goods, the garage sale also collects used items in good condition which people no longer require. These are donated to charities selected by HKUST students.
Admission to the garage sale is free, and food, drinks and parking are available.
