HKUST Engineering Ranks No.19 Globally
The newly released prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2016-2017 by subject: engineering and technology ranked HKUST No.19 worldwide and No.1 in Hong Kong. Five subjects are used to create this ranking, namely general engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering, and chemical engineering.
The engineering and technology ranking is one of the eight subject rankings published by THE in 2016-2017. Among them, two subject rankings are published for the first time and one is computer science. HKUST was ranked No.14 globally, jointly with Nanyang Technological University, and No.1 in Greater China in this new subject ranking.
The subject tables employ the same range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings 2016-2017, brought together with scores provided under five categories: teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income.
