HKUST and Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance Signed MoU
On February 24, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economy Alliance (LAEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive talent development, research, and industry collaboration in the low-altitude economy. The partnership aims to establish the Greater Bay Area as a global pioneer and model zone for the development of the low-altitude economy. The MoU was signed by Prof. Tim CHENG, HKUST’s Vice-President for Research and Development, and Dr. Elizabeth QUAT, LAEA’s Founding President. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Hong K. LO, HKUST Dean of Engineering; Prof. LI Mo, Director of HKUST Low Altitude Economy Research Center; Prof. Jack CHENG, Director of HKUST BIM Lab, and representatives from LAEA.
Key focus areas of the MoU:
- Empowering Future Talent – Exclusive internships, financial support, and real-world industry exposure for HKUST students
- Bridging Research and Industry – Guest lectures, corporate visits, and groundbreaking joint research initiatives
- Driving Innovation and Impact – Co-organized activities, research funding applications, and tech-driven project collaborations
Following the establishment of the interdisciplinary Low Altitude Economy Research Center (LAERC) in January this year, HKUST’s commitment to the development of the low-altitude economy was further demonstrated by the signing of the MoU.
