施毅明教授獲委任為署理工學院院長
電子及計算機工程學系教授及前系主任施毅明教授獲委任為署理工學院院長，任期由2022年4月1日開始。施教授接替鄭光廷教授的職務，而鄭教授於同日就任副校長（研究及發展）的新職務。
施教授於1994年在加州大學柏克萊分校取得電機工程學博士學位，並於同年加入香港科技大學成爲助理教授。其後，他在2001年晉升為副教授，2008年晉升為教授。
施教授在建校初期就加入了科大，並且在學系和學院的工作中累積了豐富的行政經驗。他曾擔任電子及計算機工程學系系主任（2015-2021年）和副系主任（2010-2014年），以及電子工程學理學碩士課程的創始主任（2004 年）。他曾參與校內多個委員會的工作，當中包括推動「三三四」新學制課程改革的課程委員會主席（2008-2010年）。施教授成功推動在學系及學院層面上多項發展，其出色的領導能力足證他是一名優秀的管理人才。
施教授是神經形態工程學、計算神經科學和人機互動領域的知名學者，專注於研究面部表情和眼球運動的建模和自動分析。他的研究團隊開發了一套頂尖的情緒識別系統，團隊又曾獲多項國際會議論文獎。他於2001年獲頒電機及電子工程師學會（IEEE）院士榮銜，成為最年輕取得此殊榮的學者之一，足見其學術方面的國際地位。
施教授一直積極為IEEE和學術界提供專業服務。他曾獲選IEEE電路與系統學會的傑出講師，並擔任過該學會的細胞式類神經網絡和陣列計算技術委員會主席，及參與過不同學術期刊的編輯工作。
