科大工学院再度跻身全球20
2010年《泰晤士报高等教育特刊》全球大学在工程及科技类别的排名昨天公布，香港科技大学（科大）由去年的第26位跃升至本年的第20位。
首3位分别是加州理工学院、麻省理工学院和史丹福大学。剑桥大学排名第6，牛津大学排名第8，康乃尔大学排名12，新加坡国立大学排名16，清华大学与科大同列20，东京大学排名22，北京大学排名25，而国立臺湾大学则排名46。
排名以教学、研究质素、论文引用、来自业界的收入和国际化為準则。在五个范畴中，科大在论文引用方面的表现最為优秀。论文引用是以大学所发表的论文被引用的次数来评定，向来被视為研究成果影响力的一个重要指标。
科大工学院院长李德富教授说：「科大是一所年青的大学，工学院能够在过去七年内叁度晋身全球20之列，我们感到非常骄傲。这足证我们教研团队和学生的出色表现，也显示出学院在国际间得到的广泛认同。」
