One-Day Coasteering in South Cheung Chau
The one-day coasteering program was held in South Cheung Chau for IPO students on 4 June 2022.
26 students challenged themselves in coasteering along Hong Kong’s rocky coastline on a sunny Saturday. They first took the ferry and Sampan to South Cheung Chau then traversed the rocky coastline. The program led by professional trainers begun with a safety briefing including a harness and helmet demonstration, and students quickly learned how to safely spot one another, support, and help each other over obstacles and to use the equipment correctly. The stretch of coastline was rigged with handlines for students to clip onto, as well as climbing, abseiling and a controlled lower.
Students found that the program tasks were able to challenge themselves and expand their potentials. During rock scrambling, climbing as well as abseiling and lowering, students built their resilience and improved the bonding and team spirits between IPO students. They like that the coasteering program brought them to a brand new outdoor experience and settings and are looking forward to attending more outdoor programs organized by IPO.
