Hong Kong Techathon 2022 is a one-week challenge from 3-8 January 2022 where students and alumni from various universities come together to develop technology-related business ideas. It is co-organised by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and The University of Hong Kong. The program included workshops, networking events, and a final pitch competition in which participants competed for  a seed fund of HK$1.9 million in total.

Teaming up with Rex YU, a Year 2 Student in Sustainable Energy Engineering, Log G and Laurence have designed a product named “READily”, using A.I. technology to generate English comprehension questions from any selected passages. Their product aims at resolving challenges that private tutors may face during the process of exercise generation. Tutors can generate tailored exercises with READily according to students’ ability and interest.

Laurence, now a final year student at T&M-DDP, said that having a great team was the most important during in the whole process. “We are very lucky to have a very talented and motivated team who helped everybody push through the tough times. It is also very important to have a good idea which is novel, innovative and practical,” said Laurence. “Our team did a great job in preparing for the presentation and Q&A of the final pitch which definitely helped us win the competition. With the seed fund in hand, we are now able to turn our vision into a real product.”

Apart from cash prize HK$10,000, they are also admitted directly to a number of tech-related business competitions and have opened up many funding opportunities, the team  is very excited to bring the business to the next stage. Many congratulations to Log G & Laurence, and we wish you all the best in your future competitions!
