Prof. YANG Qiang Elected as Fellow of Royal Society of Canada
Prof. YANG Qiang, Chair Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, was recently elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) in the class of 2021. He is one of the 89 new Fellows who have been elected by their peers for their outstanding scholarly, scientific, and artistic achievement.
Prof. Yang is a world leader and pioneer in the artificial intelligence fields of transfer learning and federated learning, as well as automated planning and case-based reasoning. His work allows artificial intelligence and data analytic methods to be effective for small and decentralized data while preserving privacy and security, and has had a major impact on industry and society. He also contributes to professional artificial intelligence and data science societies.
Founded in 1882, the Royal Society of Canada comprises the Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences, and The College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. It recognizes excellence, advises the government and the larger society, and promotes a culture of knowledge and innovation in Canada and with other national academies around the world.
