「獨角獸」聚焦高科技初創
由「創科香港基金會」首度公布的「香港獨角獸榜單 Unicorns HK 2021」，18間獲選的獨角獸中，有6間由香港科技大學工學院的教授或校友創立。
是次上榜的獨角獸均在香港創立／早期孵化／設總部，或創辦人為香港居民。這些初創皆尚未上市、估值超過10 億美元，符合獨角獸的國際標準。六間由工學院教授或校友創立的獨角獸（見下表）涵蓋人工智能、機械人、高端製造、傳感器和自動駕駛等領域。
排行榜在創科香港基金會聯合中國環球電視網推出的「創新港灣2021」特別節目中公布。節目匯聚了政策制定者、企業家和科技專家，共同探討大灣區創新科技的進一步發展；致辭的嘉賓包括行政長官林鄭月娥女士及全國政協副主席梁振英先生。
「創科香港基金會」由風險投資基金「紅杉資本中國基金」於2016年成立，旨在促進香港科創文化建設，為青年創業家提供創業支援。
