科大工程學者丘立教授獲頒國際自動控制聯盟院士銜
香港科技大學(科大)電子及計算機工程學系的丘立教授最近獲得國際自動控制聯盟(IFAC)頒授院士榮銜。這是自動控制及系統工程界的一項國際殊榮。
今年，獲國際自動控制聯盟頒授院士銜的國際學者只有17位，而丘教授是其中唯一來自香港的學者。以前僅有兩位香港學者成為這聯盟的院士，其中一位是科大電子及計算機工程學系的曹希仁講座教授。
國際自動控制聯盟由2004年起頒授院士銜給各類專業人士，包括工程師、科學家、技術領導及教育家。
丘立教授是因為「對健壯控制理論及對反饋控制系統的根本性能局限作出了傑出和影響深遠的貢獻」而獲頒院士銜。
國際自動控制聯盟於1957年成立，是一個由國家成員組織組成的國際聯盟。每個會員都代表所屬國家有關自動控制的工程及科學組織。這聯盟旨在推廣所有系統（包括工程、物理、生物、社會及經濟系統）的控制科學和工程─包括理論和應用。目前，這聯盟的成員來自全球50個國家或地區。
丘立教授在多倫多大學獲碩士和博士學位，並於1993年加入科大。他也是國際電機及電子工程學會院士及該組織屬下的控制系統學會的傑出講師。
