科大工學院再度躋身全球20
2010年《泰晤士報高等教育特刊》全球大學在工程及科技類別的排名昨天公布，香港科技大學（科大）由去年的第26位躍升至本年的第20位。
首3位分別是加州理工學院、麻省理工學院和史丹福大學。劍橋大學排名第6，牛津大學排名第8，康乃爾大學排名12，新加坡國立大學排名16，清華大學與科大同列20，東京大學排名22，北京大學排名25，而國立臺灣大學則排名46。
排名以教學、研究質素、論文引用、來自業界的收入和國際化為準則。在五個範疇中，科大在論文引用方面的表現最為優秀。論文引用是以大學所發表的論文被引用的次數來評定，向來被視為研究成果影響力的一個重要指標。
科大工學院院長李德富教授說：「科大是一所年青的大學，工學院能夠在過去七年內三度晉身全球20之列，我們感到非常驕傲。這足證我們教研團隊和學生的出色表現，也顯示出學院在國際間得到的廣泛認同。」
