HKUST Engineering Ranks No.1 in Hong Kong for 11 Years

HKUST Engineering continues to hit the No.1 spot in Hong Kong in two newly released 2022 subject rankings by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

In the Computer Science subject, HKUST rises to No.26 globally – an impressive jump of five positions from No.31 last year. HKUST has retained the No.1 place in Hong Kong for six years in a row.

In the Engineering subject, HKUST ranks No.28 worldwide. It has been rated No.1 in Hong Kong for 11 years straight. The engineering subject rankings are created based on five narrower areas: general engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering, and chemical engineering.

In both subject rankings, HKUST maintains its fifth place in Asia.

The subject tables employ the same range of 13 performance indicators used in the overall World University Rankings 2022, brought together with scores provided under five categories: teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (innovation).

The computer science result demonstrates the School’s advancement in industry income, research, and international outlook, while the engineering result reflects our continued strength in all five categories.

The ranking results have affirmed the School’s excellence in education and research, as well as our faculty and students’ accomplishments. We will continue to fulfill our mission to provide top-quality education for our students and achieve global impact through breakthroughs and innovation in research.
