Two Engineering Professors Named Highly Cited Researchers 2020
Two professors from the Department of Mechanical an Aerospace Engineering have been named on the Highly Cited Researchers 2020 list by Clarivate.
They are Chair Professor ZHAO Tianshou, Cheong Ying Chan Professor of Engineering & Environment and Director of HKUST Energy Institute, and Professor Emeritus Jang Kyo KIM. Both of them were recognized in the cross-field category that identifies researchers with substantial influence across several fields. This is the sixth time Prof. Zhao received the honor and second time for Prof. Kim since the list was introduced in 2014.
The annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the 11-year period from 2009 to 2019. Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science citation index.
In 2020, fewer than 6,200, or about 0.1%, of the world's researchers, in 21 Essential Science Indicators research fields and across multiple fields, have earned this exclusive distinction. The researchers come from more than 60 countries and regions.
