“Advisory & Grant Making for 4 Social Enterprises” - Corporate Project Sponsored by Philanthropy in Motion, IBM Global Business Services and HARMAN International

With the support of Philanthropy in Motion, IBM Global Business Services and HARMAN International, 2019 Spring term’s Corporate Project (TEMG4950C) challenged students to assist 4 social enterprises to develop an investor pitch. The project aims at providing students with hands-on experience in solving complex real business problems and polishing their advanced skills in team-based consulting, Enterprise Design Thinking, theory of change and social return on investment.

Throughout the Spring semester, students worked closely with their assigned social enterprise in the classroom and at their place of business, guided by Prof. Betty LIN, the course instructor, who is also the Associate Director and UG Coordinator of Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management (T&M-DDP),  and IBM mentors.

The final presentation was held on 10 May 2019. Students in teams presented their pitches to the judges from Philanthropy in Motion, IBM Global Business Services and UBS AG. The winning team consisted of Hugo LEUNG, Tosan TO and Handi YANG, developed an investor pitch for a social enterprise that provides solution for learners with Dyslexia/SEN.

T&M-DDP would like to express gratitude to the honorable donors, Mr. Haoyu LIU & Ms. Belinda WONG.
