Mr Gilbert Hung Met with Recipients of Hung Choh Jan Fong Scholarships and Bursaries
Mr Gilbert Hung, Chairman of Ideal Group, came on campus to meet the recipients of Hung Choh Jan Fong Scholarships and Bursaries. The get-together was joined by Mr James A Elms, Director (HR & Admin) of Ideal Group, and Dr Eden Woon, HKUST’s Vice-President for Institutional Advancement.
The Hung Choh Jan Fong Scholarship and Bursary Endowment Fund was established by Mr Gilbert Hung in 2005 with the Fund named in honor of Mr Hung’s mother. The Fund supports students in participating in overseas exchange and around 8-10 students are benefited each year.
Five students attended the get-together this year. They expressed their gratitude to Mr Hung for his generous support and shared the invaluable experience and insight that they gained during their exchange. The five students had spent a semester overseas with three of them going to North America (US, Canada) and two of them going to Europe (France, Switzerland). While the living culture varies in different countries, a common thing that they all appreciated is the enthusiasm and activeness of the overseas students in expressing their views and raising questions in class – which they have learned and found useful in their studies. The students were also inspired by the thoughts and sharing of Mr Hung and Mr Elms, and found the lunch enjoyable and memorable.
