Prof. Hong K. LO Elected 2024 Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering

Dean of Engineering Ir Prof. Hong K. LO, JP, was elected a 2024 Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE), formerly known as the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAES). The announcement was made at the 31st HKAE annual general meeting on December 9, 2024, and the induction ceremony was held on January 20, 2025. In total, 11 new Fellows were elected in 2024, all recognized for their outstanding expertise and remarkable contributions to the field of engineering.

Prof. Lo is currently Chair Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Founding Director of GREAT Smart Cities Institute. He took office as the Dean of Engineering in January 2023.

Prof. Lo is an accomplished scholar in intelligent transportation systems, smart cities, and sustainability. He developed the first-ever agent-based dynamic transportation model for Hong Kong, which has been adopted by the industry for network service planning. His research on signalized roundabouts has also been adopted for implementation. He has extensive knowledge of the local research landscape and is actively establishing collaborations with the government and industries.

Established in 1994, HKAE is a prestigious organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the field of engineering in Hong Kong. It aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and excellence in engineering, contributing to the advancement of society and the development of Hong Kong and the nation. It comprises a distinguished group of Fellows from various disciplines, recognized as leaders in their profession, with remarkable achievements in engineering sciences and applications.
