Prof. Dan TSANG and Prof. WANG Yiwen Selected as Young Scientists to Speak at World Laureates Forum
Two School of Engineering (SENG) faculty members were selected as Young Scientists to deliver talks at the eminent 2024 World Laureates Forum in Shanghai on October 25-27.
The Young Scientist speakers are Professor Dan TSANG in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Associate Professor WANG Yiwen in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
Established by the World Laureates Association in 2018, the World Laureates Forum has grown over six years to become one of the world’s largest and most prestigious annual scientific gatherings. Themed “Excellence in Science”, the 2024 forum brought together around 300 top scientists and prominent guests from nearly 20 countries and regions around the world. Participants engaged in insightful discussions, fostered international collaboration, and advanced scientific progress.
Only eight Young Scientists were invited to speak at the forum. Prof. Tsang’s talk focused on “Reimagining Resource Circularity of Biomass in Hong Kong”, while Prof. Wang discussed “Generative Neural Spike Prediction via Behavioral Reinforcement for Cognitive Prosthesis”.
HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP was invited to join the forum as a keynote session host in the opening ceremony. Also participating in the forum were fellow SENG faculty members Professor SUN Fei and Assistant Professor Yoonseob KIM, both from the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
